Re: from B & L fall to the raise of CARS to Wall-E and the return of (wo)men.
Nota bene: B&L, Wall-E and CARS are trademarks of Pixar/ Disney. This blog post represent the opinion of this blogger. It is intended as a parody and nothing else.
Sometime on the near future corporations will grow so powerful that, knowingly or not, we become governed by a corporation, B&L.
Everything might not fell or look different but suddenly the White House turns into the seat of the CEO of the World/B&L. In time, the recession recedes, economy soars but so do trash. Trash and rubbish grow exponentially and, unexpectedly, make the planet a harsh place. This happens so fast the oil reserves are not even fully spent. Hyperconsumism drives humans in to space, not exploration but plain survival. We leave behind some machines/robots to take care of everything in a timeframe of 7 years. However, cleaning files to be accomplish in that period but machines achieve some degree of sentience. I have to emphasize the words "some degree" since the machines that survive the 7 year failure copied some of our bad habits: they fashion themselves as gas consuming CARS!
Without any human resistance or even geographic restrictions they take over the world... That is, until oil reserves go bust (a few hundreds of years after CARS 2). The exhaustion of all of the world's oil finally destroys the environment bad enough that plants are almost wiped out, almost...
The only robots that survive are those low level Wall-Es and only because they are solar powered and lots of parts from broken robots are scattered about. 700 hundred years later EVE arrives.
The only evidence I have for these speculations is the fact that you can see a B&L logo in the CARS 2 movie, right before the Tokyo race. Also, in Toy Story, Andy's mom load gas at a Dinoco gas station.
Good news in this future is humanity survives. Bad news is low gravity and other factors will make recolonization pretty difficult for the survivors (they are not fat, they are huge and soft).
Well, I hope to hear some comments and some alternative scenarios.
